- Click on the email Icon
- Once in email, click on the menu button
- Select accounts
- Select add account
- You will have to fill out your email address and password and then click Next (incoming and outgoing servers are verified, you are done
other wise click manual setup and continue)
- Select “IMAP Account”
-
Incoming settings
- IMAP Server : imap.aol.com
- Port : 143
- Security Type : None
- Go to the bottom of the screen and click “Next” (The Droid will make sure you login is valid)
-
Outgoing settings:
- SMTP Server: smtp.aol.com
- Port: 587
- Check Requires sign-in

Matt,
I went to the Droid armed with the tools to overcome my earlier failings. This time was different though. I entered my email address and password and the setup went on its own! I didn’t have to do anything and its all done. Thank you for your help.

Scott, I have not been able to reproduce this error on the Motorola Droid (verizon). Which phone and which carrier are you using?
i am using the same as you droid on verizon with firmware 2.0.1 i can send to aol contacts fine but like if i sent to a gmail address or any other i get that error in k-9 and in the email app i dont get an error but it just doesnt send
Scott, you may want to check junk or spam mail. For your testing, make sure you have a good subject and a return address?
I have retested to all sorts email accounts; webmail(hotmail and gmail), corporate (exchange mail, qmail).
I’m using the native mail client on the droid, have not used k-9.
I am not going to be original this time, so all I am going to say that your blog rocks, sad that I don’t have suck a writing skills
interesting post
